Fun Things to Do on a Weekday Morning In McKinney, Texas
INFORMATIVE
Tags: McKinney, Texas, Restaurants, Shopping, Favorites
Whether meeting friends for lunch, shopping or taking in some culture, McKinney, Texas is a quaint and unique place.
| | Poppy's: In a re-vamped Victorian house on Church Street, just of the square, Poppy's is very modern inside. The food is wonderful and I recommend the Curried Butternut Squah soup. Yum! Poppy's has live music on weekends, and the outdoor dining among the huge trees is almost like a fairyland. Not really kid friendly, but older kids and teens may enjoy the ambiance. | | | Heard Wildlife Musuem: Located about a mile from downtown McKinney, the Heard is famous for miles around the Dallas area. This place IS kid friendly to the nth degree. Hands on learning is just part of what makes the Heard special and a few times a year, you can buy native plants at their Plant Sale. | | | The Pantry: This is the lunch hot-spot for McKinney. Their sandwiches are consistantly good but their desserts will make you want to drive out to McKinney again and again. The Pantry isn't open for dinner, only for lunch and it gets really crowded when the local court house lets out for lunch break! | | | The Attic: This is the antique mall you see on TV and never knew where to find! Just barely off the square in downtown McKinney, there are seeming hundreds of separate vendors who rent space here and it's two stories tall. One of the best vendor locations is the Texanna area near the cash register on the first floor. Try the Dr. Pepper beef jerky! The Attic is only one of MANY antique stores featuring true antiques, reproductions and even primatives. | | | Mom & Popcorn: The name doesn't say it all! An old fashioned candy shoppe combined with a heavenly aroma that will send you into raptures of caramel corn delight. You have to see it to believe it. They have a website, just search the name. | | | The Londoner: It's as if you've been transported to England or Ireland. This is a truly small hole-in-the wall. Live music on the weekends, authenic shepherd's pie, the best I've ever eaten outside Ireland, and lot's of rustic wood, make the Londoner a great place to sit and enjoy a brew or a whole meal. They have a website too, just seach "The Londoner". They've got two locations, one in Addison, TX and the other in McKinney. The webiste has their menu and cute drawings of the locations. |
