Nolan Ryan ranked number one overall. With a career walk rate of 4.67. That's not particularly efficient. Comment by: deanbcurtis Certainly not Ryan, no matter how many strikeouts he had. Best pitcher in baseball ever is Greg Maddox, just look at his best seasons and the consistency of them, check out http://www.baseballevaluation.com where they show his best seasons. If 1994 and 1995 had not been strike shortened, he would have gotten better credit for them. Maybe he should only be considered the best for the regular season, with Cy Young close second, but in my opinion it should be Greg Maddux. Comment by: limitlesspos Any of these could be in the top 15: Bob Gibson, Steve Carlton, Grover Alexander, Mordecai "Three-Finger" Brown, Eddie Plank, Warren Spahn, Jim Palmer, Bob Feller, Juan Marichal. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/the-all-time-best-pitchers/ Comment by: barlkeit
