James B. (Beardsley) Hendryx (1880-1963) wrote a number of novels and short stories, mostly set in the northwestern United States and Canada, including a number about the Yukon gold rush. His "Connie Morgan" series follows in the "Horatio Alger" tradition of "hard-working young man finds success." He was born in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, (as was Sinclair Lewis).
Many of these works are available online, including as e-texts hosted at Project Gutenberg (www.gutenberg.org).
