A shutdown cornerback is a guy teams won't throw at, period. When he lines up, his side of the field is closed for business; the ball will be going elsewhere all game long. And if the QB does throw it to them, watch out! These are the best CBs in the NFL:
| 1. | Champ Bailey, Denver Broncos |
| 2. | DeAngelo Hall, Atlanta Falcons |
| 3. | Chris McAlister, Baltimore Ravens |
| 4. | Terence Newman, Dallas Cowboys |
| 5. | Nathan Vasher, Chicago Bears |
| 6. | Ty Law, Kansas City Chiefs |
| 7. | Ronde Barber Tampa Bay Buccaneers |
| 8. | Antoine Winfield, Minnesota Vikings |
| 9. | Ken Lucas, Carolina Panthers |
| 10. | Rashean Mathis, Jacksonville Jaguars |
| 11. | Patrick Surtain, Kansas City Chiefs. |
| 12. | Marcus Trufant, Seattle Seahawks. |
| 13. | Leigh Bodden, Cleveland Browns. |
| 14. | Ike Taylor, Pittsburgh Steelers. |
| 15. | Dunta Robinson, Houston Texans. |

I would question a few of those. There first of all are not that many of what I would call shutdown corners in the league and how can you have a list without Al Harris. He has been one of the best period. Comment by: DaystarNJO
