5 Ways to Commit Gluttony
WORSTS
Tags: gluttony, sin, commit, five, ways, eating, too much
Meaning to gulp down or swallow, gluttony is the over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink, or intoxicants to the point of waste. Early Church leaders, like Thomas Aquinas, took a more expansive view of gluttony, arguing that it could also include an obsessive anticipation of meals, and the constant eating of delicacies and excessively costly foods. He went so far as to prepare a list of five ways to commit gluttony, including:
| 1. | Praepropere - eating too soon |
| 2. | Laute - eating too expensively |
| 3. | Nimis - eating too much |
| 4. | Ardenter - eating too eagerly |
| 5. | Studiose - eating too daintily |
